Common questions

Is my text uploaded?

No. Speech is made on your PC, offline. See the privacy policy.

Do I need the internet?

Only once per natural voice, to download it. Windows voices and downloaded voices then work offline.

Is there a limit?

Reading aloud has no limit. Free users can save up to 10 minutes of audio a day as MP3 or WAV; the limit resets every day.

How do I get more Windows voices?

Open Windows Settings, then Time & language, then Speech, and add a voice. It shows up in the app after a restart.

A word is pronounced wrong

Try another voice, or spell the word the way it sounds.

A PDF opens with no text

Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages and contain no text to read. Use a PDF that has selectable text.
